1. All dogs must have up to date vaccinations and flea protection, been wormed and bathed. Proof of vaccination must be shown to the carer prior to the stay. The vaccination certificate must be given to the carer for the duration of the stay when the booking commences.

  2. A mutually convenient time for drop off and collection of the dog/s must be agreed between the owner and the carer. This should be between the hours of 07:30am and 8:30pm.

  3. The Emergency Contact must be aware of their role, duties and responsibilities and be available for the duration of the booking.

  4. The owner or Emergency Contact is responsible for payment of any veterinary fees incurred and the owner is responsible for reimbursing any costs incurred by the carer if any damage, other than reasonable wear and tear, is caused to the carer’s home or possessions by the dog/s

  5. Carers will make every effort to provide high standards of care but PetStay or their carers cannot be held liable for loss, injury or death unless negligence is shown. The owner agrees to let PetStay know of any changes to their dog/s details before any stay.

  6. If your dog/s escapes from the premises (assuming no negligence is found on the part of the carer) any liability for the dog/s actions remains the responsibility of the owner.

  7. When a carer has been selected with a resident dog the owner gives permission to board their dog/s together with the carer’s dog/s. The owners and carers dogs must have had an introductory meeting.

  8. If the carer has a resident cat then both the owner & carer must be in mutual agreement that the dog is suitable to be boarded in the house with a cat. The owner gives permission for their dog/s to be boarded with a resident cat.

  9. The owner agrees NOT to book a PetStay carer without coming through PetStay and understands that if they do this, then the insurance and carer’s guidelines are null and void.

  10. If, while the owner is away, the carer cannot continue to board the dog/s through problems with the dog/s sickness or behaviour, then PetStay will try to find another carer if possible and advise the Emergency Contact or owner accordingly. If PetStay is unable to find another carer and the Emergency Contact is unable or unwilling to take the dog/s, then PetStay will, in consultation with the Emergency Contact, find suitable kennels or veterinary accommodation for the dog/s. The owner will be responsible for the associated accommodation and transport costs.

  11. If the dog has shown aggression or bites during its board the Emergency Contact will be asked to remove the dog. If the Emergency Contact cannot take the dog then the dog will be removed to a kennel. There will be no refund of boarding fees that have been paid and the owner will be responsible for all kennel fees.

  12. PetStay will not board dogs that require a control collar of any kind.

  13. If the dog has not had the kennel cough vaccination and it needs to be removed to a kennel then the owner gives permission for the dog to have the vaccination at their cost.

  14. PetStay are unable to accept dogs that have shown aggression towards other dogs and/or people or subject to the terms of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. No dogs registered under this act will be accepted for home boarding.

  15. PetStay will accept bookings from unspayed bitches. However, if the owner believes the dog may come into season during their home boarding time period then the owner must inform PetStay. If the carer is not happy to accept a bitch in season, PetStay will look for an alternative carer. If PetStay are unable to find an alternative carer, PetStay reserve the right to cancel the booking and refund the fee without any liability to PetStay. A bitch in season must not be boarded with a resident dog.

  16. PetStay will accept entire males at their discretion and providing they do not show aggression towards other dogs or people. Entire males must not be boarded with a resident dog.

  17. The owner is responsible for supplying enough food for the duration of the dog/s stay and food and water bowls, bedding, lead, toys etc. that will help the dog/s to settle into the new environment. If insufficient food is supplied the owner is responsible for reimbursing the carer for costs incurred in the purchase of more food.

  18. All dogs staying with PetStay must wear a collar with an identity tag showing the name and address of the owner (a telephone number is optional but advisable). This is a legal requirement. The dog will also wear a PetStay identity tag on its collar during its stay.

  19. All equipment is provided by the owner, and it is their responsibility to ensure that it is of suitable quality and fit for purpose.

  20. The Carer’s Allowance must be paid to the carer in full when the dog/s are dropped off. If the Carer’s Allowance is not received the dog/s will not be boarded.

  21. The owner agrees if after 10 days of the booked return date the owner has not collected the dog/s and PetStay has made every attempt to contact the owner or Emergency Contact without success then the dog/s would be put up for re-homing.

  22. If the owner collects the dog/s before the confirmed end date of the board they will not be entitled to a refund.

  23. If a carer is unable to proceed with the board due to a change in personal circumstances PetStay will endeavour to home the dog/s with another carer, but this may not be in the same area. PetStay reserve the right at their discretion to cancel the booking and refund the fee without any liability to PetStay.

  24. If a carer is unable to continue with the board for whatever reason PetStay will endeavour to home the dog/s with another carer, but this may not be in the same area. If PetStay cannot find an alternative carer then the Emergency Contact will be contacted, if they cannot take the dog/s then arrangements will be made for the dog/s to stay in kennels. PetStay would be responsible for these costs. PetStay reserve the right at their discretion to cancel the booking and refund the fee without any liability to PetStay.

  25. You understand that the Arrangement fee is payable on each booking.

  26. You understand the Arrangement fee is for the service provided by your local PetStay branch in selecting a suitably matched dog carer for you and your dog/s.

  27. You understand the Arrangement Fee also represents a proportion of all the administration and ongoing business costs, including but not limited to, Public Liability and Employer Liability insurance, licensing, recruitment of carers, advertising, 24/7 support to carers, and business documentation giving both you and your dog a quality home dog boarding experience with PetStay.

  28. You understand the Arrangement fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. We advise you to check your insurance

  29. A booking will only be regarded as confirmed when the Arrangement fee is paid, and a signed Booking form is received.

  30. The Arrangement Fee is due for payment within 5 days of meeting your dog carer. For a repeat booking the Arrangement Fee is payable within 5 days of your requested dates being confirmed by PetStay

  31. You understand that the Carers Allowance is a separate payment and payable by you to the carer when you drop your dog/s off.

  32. The dog/s must be used to living in a home environment and must not exhibit territorial marking and be housetrained.

  33. The owners agree to provide full, accurate and detailed information on the Booking Form about the dog/s. During the owners continued use of PetStay the owner agrees to keep PetStay informed of any changes to the dog/s Booking Form. Failure on the owner’s part to disclose any matter which in PetStay’s view may render the dog/s unsuitable for home boarding with the carer, will amount to a breach of conditions and termination of the dog/s stay without refund. Clause 10 will apply

  34. Any conditions requiring the administration of medicine to the dog/s must be fully discussed with the carer. Dosage rates etc. should be given to the carer in writing before their stay. Any changes in medication required must be communicated to the carer in a timely manner.

  35. PetStay will attempt to contact the Emergency Contact or Owner in an emergency and if necessary the Emergency Contact is expected to make any decisions with regard to the dog/s. If the owner or Emergency Contact cannot be contacted, PetStay reserves the right to act on the owner’s behalf, seeking and following advice from a veterinary surgeon.

  36. If the customer has a rescue dog, the dog must have been resident with the owner for a minimum of six months.

  37. All data collected by PetStay will be dealt with in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR legislation to protect the personal information held on PetStay customers.
